Report at January 2026 Community Council about Little Cumbrae
The charity that cares for Little Cumbrae Island works to make its natural beauty, wildlife and history accessible to everyone while protecting it for the future. Since taking on the lease in April 2025, the charity has focused on improving basic services such as a fresh water supply, building repairs, safety work and plans for renewable energy and better pier access, while employing three caretakers on the island.
All income is reinvested to support the island, with careful work to protect its historic sites and develop opportunities for education, conservation, small events and responsible visitors. With funding limited, the coming year is important as the charity works towards becoming financially sustainable and continues its long-term goal of restoring, protecting and sharing Little Cumbrae for the benefit of the local community and future generations.
